Treadmill Reviewers

NordicTrack’s Incline Trainer Treadmills are half treadmill and half stairclimber. Users walk on the flat deck but can tilt it to an incline of 40% if they wish. This gives more resistance and gives faster results that standard treadmill walking by changing the way exercisers use their muscles.

The X3 can be purchased from various websites and retailers, but it is no longer being produced or selling through NordicTrack.  The current range consists of the X7i, the X9i and the X11i.

Features:

Display:

One of the most unique features of this incline trainer is that it has the option of showing a 3D perspective of your workout, which really makes your workout session much more interesting. You can select the mode that you find best by pressing the Display Mode button repeatedly. This

will show you the following information:

  • Distance
  • Speed of the belt
  • Calories burned/hour
  • Time elapsed
  • Incline level
  • Pulse rate
  • Animation of your run or walk
  • Progress of the trail you have selected
  • The number of steps taken

Workouts:

The X3i trainer has different workouts thrown in the mix. There is 1 manual workout, 9 one-step calorie workouts, and customized trail workouts. iFit workouts are also compatible but must be purchased separately.

Once you insert the key into the console, you have the option of selecting either select a 1-step Calorie workout, a randomly customized workout or an iFit workout. Whichever mode you select, the process will be the same. Start walking on the belt once the desired program is chosen.

The incline trainer will start, gradually build up and then towards the end of the program, start slowing down.  Incline and speed settings are automatically set for preset workouts. You can terminate the program at any time during the workout by pressing the Stop button and restart it by pressing the Start button. If the program is too strenuous, you can access a fan built into the treadmill.

The advanced display will show an overview of your performance, which includes everything we stated in the previous section. But it is good to keep in mind that the number of calories burned are just estimated and not spot on.

Heart Rate:

This equipment allows you to read your heart rate by using the metal contacts on the handrail. Keep your hands still for 15 seconds and you will have accurate heart rate information.

Sound System and Mp3 Compatibility:

iPods and other mp3 devices are compatible so you can work out and groove to your music playlist. The volume buttons are placed with the console controls

Information Mode:

If you wish to view the information, the console will display details like the total distance walked on the belt, the number of hours spent on the machine, the estimated distance traveled etc. permanently. It can be turned off at any time.

To set the information mode, hold the Stop button in place, insert the key and then release the button. Distance can be displayed in the metric system or the English system.

Things to be mindful of:

Not built for running: The point of an incline training is to allow users to walk at a steep level. Therefore, this unit isn’t the best for treadmill running as its basic intent is incline training. The track is also very short for long strides.

Verdict

The NordicTrack X3 Incline Trainer is excellent for those who want to build their stamina and resistance through low-impact workouts. Extras which include 3D graphics and iFit workouts keep the motivation and desire to work out regularly high.

This machine can support user weight up to 300 pounds. For those weighing higher than this, consider the X7i which has a weight capacity of 350 pounds.
